Description

The Training Core is designed to promote and assist in the training of minority junior faculty working on health disparities by coordinating basic training, mentoring, and funding opportunities. The Training Core provides multi-level training for FAMU and HSPH faculty on community-participatory research strategies and methods, cultural competency, disparities reduction and social transformation models. It also functions to enhance an existing summer training program for post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty by collaborating directly with FAMU and increasing the number of slots for students. In order to efficiently educate faculty, staff, members and leaders of the community, the Training Core develops new and augment existing courses and curriculum materials on minority health and health disparities. In addition, it supports the FAMU-HSPH-FSU faculty partnerships and the training for both Community Research Advisory Boards.
